Are there special rules?
Yes and we will post them soon! Check back for updates to the league page!

How many players per team?
We recommend rosters of 18-22 players and at least 1 goalie. You need a minimum of 5 skaters and a goalie to play a game.

What does SoNo Ice House offer that is different than other rinks for their adult league?
We plan to offer stat tracking, dedicated league and team pages on our website. The league will have perpetual trophies for teams and individuals for a number of team and personal achievements, as well as annual tournaments. Most of all we will have a dedicated league administrator who will oversee games and manage the league the way you always hoped a league would be run!

We Are Going Back To The Pond!

SoNo Ice House is proud to announce the start of the 3-on-3 Adult League. NO CROSS ICE, FULL ICE.   SoNo Ice House is equipped with a state of the art rink specifically designed for the ideal 3-on-3 game.  This full ice game means regular lines, nets, boards and glass in 60’ x 120’ ice surface, with both teams having access to their own player benches.

By seeing the level of improvement from the Mite level to the NHL level from playing 3-on-3 ice hockey, SoNo Ice House created this ideal rink to help promote skill development through the use of small area games while maintaining the game-like rink atmosphere.  The league is also non-checking with the focus of skill development and passion for the game of ice hockey.   Smaller rosters mean increased ice time. This will allow for a vast amount of development in all areas of the game from basics to more advanced skills. It’s faster and allows more touches of the puck! More game for your money!

Team rosters:

·         Up to 20 skaters on roster. Summer 2013 No Maximum.

·         1 goalie minimum. (Not counted towards the 20 roster players)

·         Half-face shields/cages required for league play.

Game Details:

·         Games will consist of Two (2) 25 minute running time periods.

·         Each team will play with 3 skaters on the ice and 1 goalie.

·         One referee per game.  (all playing rules per USA Hockey/SoNo Ice House)

·         Score keeper provided by SoNo Ice House.

3-on-3 Adult Hockey League Rules

·         SoNo Ice House Ice Hockey Department has final authority concerning all rules and regulations including, but not limited to, suspensions, expulsions and general discretion of conduct.  Rules may be modified or supplemented without notice

·         Minimum Half Shields required. Recommended Full face shields/cages for league play.

·         The league is a Non-Checking League.

·         Only registered players on team rosters may play. Rosters must be submitted prior to season start. Roster is locked after 6th game. Goalies do not count on the roster.

·         To be eligible for the play-offs a player must play in a minimum of 1/3 of the games in the season.

·         Penalty calls will result in a penalty shot, with the clock stopping.

§  Penalty calls will result in a penalty shot from center ice, with remaining players lining up on the rear goal line. When the whistle sounds for the penalty shot to begin all players become “live” and pursuit of the puck can begin by trailing players. The clock is turned back on. If a goal is scored the referee will signal a face-off at center ice. If the puck is saved and frozen the referee will signal where to face-off. If the puck is saved but in play then play will commence.

·         Any player amassing 4 penalties in one game will be ejected and reviewed by the league for possible further action.

·         Penalty/suspensions will be enforced.  A major penalty will result in eviction for the current game.  Gross misconduct will result in league suspension.  Game misconduct may result in league expulsion/or lengthy suspension.

§  A player may be ejected by the referee and given a “Game Ejection” penalty without receiving suspension.  This is at the discretion of the referee and the league administrator.

·         Pucks that are shot out of play but land back in play will be considered “live” and no whistle will be blown. Play will continue.

·         No Slap Shots. No shots where the stick is raised above the waist.

·         Goal scoring will be credited to the goal scorer and the primary assist if possible.

·         Following a scoring play the referee will submit the scorers to the time keeper.  There will be a face-off at center ice.

·         When the goalie freezes the puck the referee will designate where to face-off.

·         There is no center ice red line rule in affect during game; therefore no icing calls will be used.

·         OFF SIDE RULE: No player may receive a pass in the offensive zone from a player in his/her defensive zone.  In other words, no two-zone passes will be permitted. This will replace an off-side call and result in puck being faced-off where referee designates.

·         If a team is absent a goaltender, they may skate with 4 players. It is the team’s responsibility NOT THE LEAGUE to supply a goalie.

·         Leaving Goal Crease (The Rock Rule!) - A penalty shall be awarded to the non-offending team if a goalkeeper who, when located entirely outside the boundaries of the crease area (except to prevent a goal), deliberately falls on or gathers the puck into the body or who holds or places the puck against any part of the goal or against the  Boards   NEW

·         Teams will not change ends at the half but defend the same goal for both periods.

·         Games that have a 2 goal or less scoring difference going into the last two minutes of play will have “Stop Time” instituted for the remainder of the game unless the scoring difference is increased to more than 2 goals then time on the clock will run continuously.

·         Tied Games will end in a 3-man shoot-out.  If still tied after 3-man shoot-out then a sudden death shoot-out will follow.  Winning team will get 2 points in the standings while 1 point will be awarded for an OT Loss to the losing team.

§  Tied Playoff Games will be decided by a 5-minute overtime period that is NOT SUDDEN DEATH. If still tied after 5 minutes then a 5-man shoot-out will follow with sudden death shoot-out to follow that if tie still remains.

Summer 2013 League Details:

·         Non-checking league.

·         League Standing will be listed on SoNo Ice House Web-site. (updated daily) www.sonoicehouse.com (Go to “Adult Hockey” tab)

·         Playoff at end of season for the SoNo Ice Cup.

·         Skills competition tournament. (Hardest shot, fastest skater, team competitions, etc.) Date to be announced.
